Update from Venice

Venice from the Air

It’s a busy month in Venice with Expo 2015 opening in the nearby town of Marghera where a large facility was built for the event and the 56th International Art Exhibition,  Biennale, opening with exhibits all around the city but especially in Giardini, Arsenale. The 136 artists who will be in the show have been in town setting up their exhibits. So there is no shortage of places to go and things to see. And the vaporetti are full into the night.

The “mega” yachts that showed up in Venice for the opening of the Biennale are an embarrassment of riches. With 89 countries participating the flags of the world are represented!

Some events didn’t go so well and at the Prada Foundation the ramp that had been built to welcome the guest collapsed sending well-dressed (read here expensive $$) people into the water. A friend was nearby and got the play by play for us.
