Once More – There are No Cars Allowed in Venice!

English Tourist drives Mercedes down the fondamenta

English Tourist in his Mercedes!

OK everyone. You cannot drive your car in Venice. You cannot park on the fondamenta.

There may not be signs which forbid this – but it is Venice.

It happened again, this English Tourist casually drives his Mercedes down the fondamenta. He parks, gets out of his car to check the vaporetto schedule and to buy tickets. Just then arrives the police. His alibi: “There were no signs.”

I think we have to get the makers of all navigation systems to put big stop signs when you arrive at Piazzale Roma advising tourist that it’s the end of the line and from this point, you’d best go by piede (foot) or vaporetto.
